We live in an age where we know more than ever about how to extend life, while more and more people feel fatigue, loneliness, stress and disconnection.
We have more comfort, more information and more speed — but not necessarily more calm. That is why Casa Mestra was born. Not as a tourist destination. Not as a retreat. But as the place to experiment and relearn about life.

We believe longevity is not simply about adding years. It's about adding life to the years we have. It's about preserving curiosity, autonomy, the ability to move, human relationships, creativity and purpose. And in improvisation, everything is flexible and nothing is mandatory.

Those of us who created this project live and work in Carnota. We've spent years discovering how this place has slowed our rhythms and we want to tell the world about it. That's why Casa Mestra aims to be a temporary home for those who want to live with greater intention and purpose. A project deeply connected to Carnota, its landscape, its culture and its community. A place to relearn simple habits that help us live longer and better.

Mestra means teacher or professor in Galician, and it's a statement of intent for this coliving house: we want it to be, humbly, the place where we relearn about life. Renovated spaces that facilitate connection with the community where we cook, eat or learn, but also private retreat spaces so that solitude also teaches you. And all of them visually connected to the sea and an environment of incredible beauty.

We don't want to present Carnota in Galicia as just another summer destination. We want to celebrate the Galicia that reveals itself beyond the tourist season. That's why we open from October to June. We'd love you to come to Galicia when Galicia becomes herself again. Days of rain and wind and a slower pace are not an inconvenience. They are part of the experience and are a fundamental ingredient for your personal growth. And the Atlantic has more to teach us in winter than in summer. Just minutes from Casa Mestra stretches one of the most beautiful beaches in Spain and the longest in Galicia — 7 kilometers of golden sand, Atlantic surf and the silhouette of Monte Pindo. From here the Costa da Morte unfolds in both directions, north and south: dozens of hidden coves, world-class surf breaks, cliffside trails and sleepy fishing villages where the day is measured in tides. But beyond all this beauty, we know the importance of personal connection to this place. A 5-minute walk from Casa Mestra you'll find lesser-known beaches and trails that will manage to pause you and make this experience unforgettable. Places that will change your life.

Every stay at Casa Mestra lasts between two full weeks up to a maximum of 2 months. We want to meet many people, which is why we limit the maximum stay. And since you'll likely fall in love with Carnota, if you want to stay more than 2 months, we can help you find accommodation... maybe for life. There is nothing we would like more.
Where we are.
We are in Lira-Carnota, A Costa da Morte— on the Galician Atlantic coast. Lira is a small village with a fishing port and all services: 3 supermarkets, several traditional restaurants, pharmacy and health center. And also with direct bus connection to Santiago de Compostela.
